Character Concept


A few years back in 2014 when I took my first steps in 3d, me and a few of my colleagues had an idea for a videogame based on a fantasy world. The videogame's genre was Platformer and it was supposed to take place in an alien world following the story of the protagonist who was struggling to escape from a massive cave-like prison where he and his entire species was kept captive.

The 3D sculpted mesh shown in the pictures above is the protagonist himself while in the pictures shown beneath you can see the in-game low poly model as it was rendered in Unity engine along with the Diffuse Textures of its clothing and necklace.

Other concepts were created and 3D meshes were made to further iconise the character's face. A small variety of selections would have been available for the player to choose from.

Last but not least, the character's hairstyle, his beak's shape and fur. Despite the available heads, players would be able to further customise the protagonist by shaping his characteristics and the shape of his head. In addition there would be other characters, being enslaved in that cave like-Prison who would have their own random customisations when it comes to their appearance.

The initial idea of this alien species and its entire concept, along with all the models/meshes, both low and high poly as well as the concept images and renders were all done by Panos Mamalis. The entire project is currently frozen and it is unknown if it comes back to life.
